The principals in this particular telling of the story are E. They were called the Plumbers because, well, plumbers locate and stop leaks. The five-episode limited series premieres on HBO and HBO Max on May 1. I'm a huge fan of television so I really have found the perfect job, as I've been writing about TV shows, films and interviewing major television, film and sports stars for over 25 years. Liddy is a bit of an eccentric, with Politico calling him "Watergate's most colorful character," which is not an empty distinction. Viewers of the show will see early on how Justin Theroux brings those eccentricities to life. E. Howard Hunt was a former CIA agent who was one of the key players in the Watergate scandal. In the series, he is an ardent defender of President Nixon, believing that leaks like the Pentagon Papers are helping to destroy the nation that he worked to defend. However, his spycraft game is exactly as strong as he thinks it is.

In the show he is portrayed by Ike Barinholtz, whose acting credits include The Afterparty and The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. Iconic character actress Judy Greer (Reboot, the Halloween franchise) plays Frances, wife of G. The couple were married for more than 50 years and had five children.

Specifically, it's in the hands of writers and creators Alex Gregory and Peter Huyck, both of whom worked on HBO's Veep and The Larry Sanders Show.

Fran Liddy is the ever supporting wife of Gordon Liddy, in the show played by Judy Greer. Greer is a fan-favorite actress, known for roles in Archer, 13 Going on 30, Arrested Development and the new Halloween movies. More recently she starred in TV shows Reboot, The First Lady and The Thing About Pam. Gleeson currently stars in the limited series Alice & Jack opposite Andrea Riseborough, which he also executive produced, for Channel 4/PBS Masterpiece.

"White House Plumbers" is better before it gets to Watergate, with the first half depicting how Liddy and Hunt were bombastic but somehow good at their jobs, which helped them lead Nixon's corrupt Committee for the Re-election of the President. (The title comes from how they were known for "fixing leaks.") The series slightly elevates its comedy here. Harrelson and Theroux ham up liberally recounted events that have some shred of truth, and flourish in a passage about investigating the therapist of Daniel Ellsberg (who famously released the Pentagon Papers). We watch Liddy and Hunt, in bafflingly fake wigs, do dumb things like pose in front of the camera used during a break-in (only made worse when Hunt doesn’t take the film out before it reaches the authorities later on). It’s Coen brothers-lite with the bittersweetness of history and a looming sense of how ill-conceived each move is.

Justin starred in the 2001 movie Mulholland Drive and American Psycho before playing Joe in the series Six Feet Under. He was in the 2006 Miami Vice movie plus the hit film The Girl on The Train. Justin was also in the series Parks and Recreation and last year’s Apple TV+ drama The Mosquito Coast. Possibly foreshadowing his involvement in The Office offshoot, Gleeson has recently worked closely with two of the stars of the original NBC series. He starred opposite Steve Carell in the FX limited series The Patient, earning a Golden Globe and a Critics Choice Award nomination for his performance.

The plumbers would eventually be responsible for the illegal activities—breaking into and bugging the Democratic National Committee headquarters—that would blow up into Watergate and force Nixon's resignation. White House Plumbers is also based on a book written by one of these fixers, Egil Krogh. Gleeson is coming off some of the best reviews of his career for the FX series The Patient.
