gorgeous bedroom design

The main bedroom in rug dealer Amber El-Amin's home was all about mixing high and low pieces for a layered and intentional look as well as optimal comfort. It features both some of the most expensive pieces in the house as well as some real steals. This textured wooden headboard from Wayfair adds a lot of dimension and looks vintage. A great look for guest bedrooms, and we would totally choose this for our own space also.

How do I find kids’ bedroom ideas?

This New York City bedroom, designed by Apparatus CEO and cofounder Gabriel Hendifar, is dressed with distinctive works of art and a warm color palette. The latter is achieved through the brass in the pendant by Apparatus, the rosy bedcover from Zak + Fox, and natural light galore. The best decorative ideas for bedrooms needn't be complicated and fussy.

Tufted Walls

In this bedroom by Desiree Burns Interiors, the modern nightstand feels extra special thanks to small brass accents. Don't feel like you have to match all metals you use in the bedroom either—mixing and matching is in. If you're looking to redecorate without spending much money, repurpose furniture or artwork from other parts of your home to bring a whole new look to your bedroom. An old kitchen stool can double as a nightstand, while the art from your living room can become a focal point in your bedroom.

Best Primary Bedroom Design Ideas for Every Style

Oversized table lamps placed on either side of a bed are the perfect bedroom lighting idea and instantly give a very hotel-like vibe to a space. Combine a patterned base with a plain shade as you see above, or switch it so you have a simple base and a patterned shade. Maybe even go for the same fabric as your headboard or throw pillows for a really cohesive look. This room has just a hint of color with all those lovely peachy, blush hues. Again so easy to style differently too — add darker colors for a more moody, wintery feel, add golds to go more glam, or even add subtle prints for a cute boho feel. You can also do so much with a blank canvas, and change it up easily as styles and seasons change.

This bedroom features a soft turquoise design with a grey trim on the bottom half of the wall followed around the entire room, contrasting with the crisp white upper half. Hang a large painting on the wall above the bed to create a calm and tranquil space. In the owners' bedroom of this Connecticut home designed by Miles Redd, a painted “bookcase” cleverly hides a television that rises from within. “Sam loves portraits, and I think they look sensational on the chinoiserie wallpaper,” says Redd of the pair of fancy-dress French School paintings. In a bedroom at this Nashville, Tennessee, home designed by Richard Hallberg, a custom silk and wool rug (Anthony Monaco) is an ultra-soft landing beneath a four-poster wood and iron canopy bed (Formations).

Simple bedroom ideas

It is a nice space to spend time in, a space for reflection.”And while views of nature certainly create visual interest, it’s important to bridge the gap between your outdoor space and the corresponding interior. “The earth tones, the browns and grays that are in the room, mirror the colors outside and help to bring the two together,” says Radziner. To center a headboard on the wall, designer Shawn Henderson closed up a decorative fireplace in this pint-sized but perfect NYC bedroom. A coat of white paint helps the exposed brick wall blend in and feel much less heavy. Matching pillows and a headboard bring in a nice pop of color but the rust tone still stays within that neutral territory.

Designer Angie Hranowsky had this bed custom made to bring a fun, tropical energy into the bedroom of her clients' Sullivan's Island, South Carolina, bungalow. A playful choice like this makes the design intention of bringing the outside in clear. There are quite a few spinoffs of coastal design that you can explore if you want something a bit more rustic or refined.

The best layout for a bedroom is usually pretty straightforward, as there will usually be an obvious space for the bed to go and you can base everything else around that. Ever thought of using a bedroom storage bench at the bottom of your bed? This will hide clutter and be a place for you to sit in the morning while you put your socks on. This Heath and Hand boucle chair from Target will add a cozy texture to the room. Now, you can DIY the look with just cladding but we have also seen some fab wallpaper that replicates the look without the hassle.

We're also loving the barn door used in the bedroom to slide over the bookshelf; you could use it to go over your closet too. It's all about creating optical trickery with a two-tone color approach. This highly-rated storage bed from Wayfair can hold anything from extra bedding to bulky outerwear. Designer Peter Dunham draws upon the verdant gardens of a Newport Beach, California, home to inspire its bright redesign.

To best plan colorful bedroom ideas, start with the one that resonates with you the most. It could be a deep dark shade that makes you feel calm and safe, or a bright, uplifting color that makes you feel refreshed in the morning. Green is known for its relaxing properties and a pale blue is great for making a bedroom feel larger if it’s on the small side. Then it's a case of picking a shade that suits your bedroom's light levels – both at night and during the day – and the warmth of the light. East- and north-facing bedrooms get colder light; west- and south-facing get warmer light. In what is quite a neutral bedroom scheme, a rich ochre fluted custom headboard becomes the focal point of the bed, layered with quilted bedlinen and double stacked decorative cushions.

In the high-rise unit above, the bedroom rises to the occasion thanks to a custom bookshelf—a bonafide vault of memories—that adds visual interest to an otherwise stark, modern building. New bed linen always feels like a treat, and using it to style a bed is such a quick and affordable way to instantly update your bedroom without the need to decorate and move everything around. Investing in a pared-back, geometrically framed four poster is an uncluttered way to add interest to the higher levels of the bedroom. It can also lend drama to a scheme with minimal fuss, and introduce just a touch of balancing grandeur to otherwise spartan decor.

gorgeous bedroom design

The modern aesthetic is redefined in this jewel box of a guest room in Lisbon, where a custom velvet bed is paired with a vintage Berber rug. It’s a master class in relaxation, if not a really bold color palette. DIY is always a good way to stick to a budget too, so give painting and wallpapering a go yourself as any DIY novice can do these successfully.

The beds are longer than typical bunks with more vertical space for sitting up and playing board games. There is no more sophisticated shade of purple than eggplant, as evidenced in this Brooklyn family residence designed by Danielle Fennoy of Revamp. The custom bed’s headboard, beneath an artwork by Stan Brodsky, is upholstered in a Romo print, and the throw pillow is in a Dedar fabric. Understated patterns take center stage in designer Eva Bradley’s artful refuge, with dramatic views of San Francisco.

This bedroom designed by Leah Ring of Another Human is full of rich colors and prints, from patchwork textiles to ceramic items and paint, so it's only fitting that the artwork is multidimensional and unique, too. "The bedroom gets great light throughout the day, so we wanted to go for a peachy color on the walls that would give it a nice glow with the sunlight," Ring explains. The bedroom "feels layered in a comfortable way but not too busy—[you] feel very serene when you’re in the room," Ring says. For a balanced look add two bedside tables to each side of the bed and keep any other furniture on the other side of the room. To keep the space from feeling cluttered leave it at that if you can, and then bring in personality with artwork and small pieces of decor that reflect your style. While the base color palette of this bedroom decor is neutral, the pattern of the wooden headboard teamed with the textured soft furnishing and other bedroom accessories make this space truly warm and welcoming.

Schaefer's Canal House Has Some Of The Most Scenic Views In Maryland

schaefer's canal house maryland

Much enjoyed the large bar/restaurant - good food and service. This is a restaurant with a dock that accepts transients, not a true marina. Note that they have fuel (gas and diesel), but no other amenities for transients (no pump-out/showers/laundry/after-hours toilets etc.). Those would be welcome additions that could lead to longer stays. Dealing with the currents in the canal and the huge concrete Chesapeake City Bridge support in the middle of the dock can be quite a challenge.

The One-Of-A-Kind Schaefer's Canal House Just Might Have The Most Scenic Views In All Of Maryland

Tied up quickly and securely. Very helpful tie up assistance. Great help from Dockmaster and dockhand. The Army Corp had actually closed the C&D Canal due to fog. I contacted the Dockmaster and he called me when the Canal was open to traffic.

Vegetarian options,

My only complaint has nothing to do with the marina. The restaurant has gone downhill. My guess is they have a new chef. It was prime rib ordered medium rare and arrived medium well. Then got chicken parmigiana.

Menu for Schaefer's Canal House in Chesapeake City, MD

Nice location with the restaurant and the dockmaster hours were very convenient for our 5p arrival. Only suggestion is to add showers to the facility. Please provide your ETA, if you will be needing fuel, and direction of approach in the Notes section at checkout. Note that the marina has both fixed and floating docks on site, however the floating docks do not offer shore power. A band was playing, dinner was being served along the docks, and after a quick shower on board, dinner on the dock was fantastic!

Wheelchair accessible elevator,

Liked it so much we stayed a second night. Quaint town and very nice restaurant. Steve and his team provide an excellent experience. The location is great and we got to see the swapping of pilots on a vehicle carrier ship right from our boat.

LGBTQ+ friendly,

Sirved does not guarantee prices or the availability of menu items. If you have tried the above and still do not see availability, the marina may be full for your dates or unable to accommodate your vessel size. Use our search bar to find nearby marinas or private listings. Dock crew were very accommodating.

The docks and power were very new and more than adequate. Dock hands were very helpful ,especially with their current and friendly. Steve, the Dockmaster, went out of his way to make sure we had a great stay. We will definitely stop here again. Nice for a quick stop especially with the shoaling at the entrance to the Anchorage across the canal. The owner and his son were polite and the facility was a perfect stopover.

schaefer's canal house maryland

And many a loud speed boat takes advantage of the good fuel prices here. But the people are friendly and the area peaceful, with the restaurant offering decent food and beverage options. Overall a nice one night stop. Be prepared and time your canal transit and docking based on tides. Check AIS for commercial traffic before departing the dock.

Enjoyed the bike trail and restaurant accommodations. Marina Staff are great but tug and barge traffic very challenging. Sign up to receive news, updates and exclusive offers direct to your inbox. Yes, Schaefer's Canal House has a kids menu, view their kids menu on Sirved.

Current and pilings made for a rough night. The restaurant was lively and the food was good. As to the accommodations there is a substantial amount of current through the marina and the tidal change is roughly 3’.

With the marina only offering pilings that makes it tough to position bumpers for cushioning as the shifting current bounces the boat around. Lots of knocking throughout the night. If you’re looking for a fun spot to grab a bite and drink this is the place. If looking for a quiet night of sleep it’s not the best. This is a really nice joint.

Once you see the following photos, you’ll want to head to this scenic and historic restaurant asap. It’s the definition of dinner with a view. Schaefer's Canal House menu has been digitised by Sirved. The menu for Schaefer's Canal House may have changed since the last user update.

Schaefer's Canal House Is A Restaurant With A Great View In Maryland

schaefer's canal house maryland

The band continued after we went back on board, and it added to our cocktails on the flybridge. Schaffer's is a desirable destination, not just a great marina and restaurant. Beautiful view of a competitor across the Canal, too. Restaurant is good and convenient. Currents not a significant issue when taken bow first. Marina staff is very knowledgeable on currents and did a great job of securing the boat for an overnight stay.

For Boaters

Schaefer's Canal House is a hidden gem along the Northern Shores of the Chesapeake Bay. Located in Chesapeake City, MD, the deep-water marina is nestled on Back Creek, which branches off of the Elk River. The facility has undergone some fantastic rehabilitations to both the dock area as well as the main house. Boaters are able to dock at either the fixed dock when booking with shore power, or the floating docks if power is not needed. The marina offers 30amp and 50amp shore power.

This Maryland Restaurant Right On The Canal Is The Definition Of Dinner With A View

Tied-up just east of bridge but never noticed bridge noise above our heater-fans noise. Dock guy, Steve, carefully made sure we were tied with long spring lines to handle the tide. After a long run up the Chesapeake with foul current all day, we arrived at sunset.

Dinner reservations recommended,

Good basic marina with a really good restaurant. If you are picky the noise from vehicles on the bridge might bother you. I had a cold beer and thought of the sounds as a funky reggae beat. Great location midpoint on the C&D canal. The staff was incredibly helpful when docking and getting advice on transiting the canal and out the the Delaware Bay. The restaurant is very good and the area is clean and well maintained.

Vegetarian options,

Not sure if there was a 'go fast' boat convention in town, but the exhaust noise from noon 'til dark was really ridiculous. The marina staff were excellent in all phases, approach and tie up was easy, and everyone respected the no wake zone so there was minimal rocking. In the mood for dining with a view?

Does Schaefer's Canal House have a kids menu?

Also a great walking and bike path if you're looking for a place to stretch your legs. A very convenient stop along the way. The person that helped us dock was excellent!

schaefer's canal house maryland

While visiting, boaters will have access to great amenities including restrooms and a full provisioned Ships Store. Great stay at Schaefer's marina. Stopped at the fuel dock and took on 750 gallons of fuel.

We were docked at a long fixed dock alongside the canal and the restaurant. Wakes from passing boats were not bad even on a weekend. A little noisier than most places due to the bridge traffic and the restaurant but not bad.

This is a good location to stop in preparation to head down the C&D canal, and Delaware River. I believe this is the only marina in Chesapeake City that has fuel. Since the main dockage is along a fixed dock it's fairly easy to pull up and the dockmaster is very helpful and friendly. I ate at the restaurant (nothing else around) the food is good.

Read on for the details and keep this scenic restaurant in mind for a dining experience to remember. Tom the Dockmaster was very friendly and helpful. He guided us in to our spot over the radio and took our lines on arrival. Lively place with live music over the weekend. Very helpful & professional, well versed in the challenges of their current. Excellent hours for transients if trying to stretch your day. Nice casual restaurant on site.

Steve stayed late to handle our lines for us and could not have been more helpful. The long face dock makes for a convenient stop when transiting the canal. Good dinner at the restaurant.

Nice location and great staff. The restaurant was good and reasonably priced. Strong currents can be expected. We really enjoyed the bar and restaurant. I would definitely stay there again.

Great food at the restaurant. We are docked from May1st to Oct31st on the transit floating docks. Our vessel is definately in good hands with Dockmaster Tom & Manager Steven Connell. They are able to run this top notch facility because of the knowledgable & friendly deckhands.

Dockhands were knowledgeable and knew how to secure boat to fixed pier. Fun being on the edge of the restaurant and people eating who wanted to be more informed about boats. Great experience on the C and D canal. Nice stop between the Cheasapeake and Cape May. In the past, we have stopped at Delaware City but this is more convenient.

The restaurant was the only real bright spot for this location. We arrived late but they stuck around to help us tie up and made suggestions for the best fendering arrangements. Although we were tied on the river face dock we had no wake issues all night.
